Remco and Carlijn started Axes in 2000. Remco wanted to learn everything about 3D and animation; Carlijn saw how they could turn those ideas into a business. They complemented each other and, above all, were eager to build something together.

Carlijn helped shape the ideas from the start. With her background in marketing and communication, she wrote the business plan for Axes. She starts with the story: what do you want to communicate, who is it for, and how can an image help?

Discovering animation while working in television led Remco to 3D. He learned the craft by reading, experimenting and keeping at it until things worked. That combination of a visual eye and technical curiosity is still at the heart of Axes.
From two founders to a whole team.
What began with two people has grown into a studio with an established, professional team. We create product imagery, architectural visualisations and animations. Everyone brings their own expertise. Together, we keep an eye on the whole picture.
That early enthusiasm is still there. We want to understand how something works, what makes it special and how to show it well. A tricky question, a beautiful detail or a new technique: there is always something to explore.
